WUKY Seeks Volunteers for Summer Fund Drive
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 17, 2012) — Volunteers will soon have the opportunity to experience the excitement and energy of public radio that ROCKS.
Lexington and the University of Kentucky's NPR Station, WUKY, will connect with listeners across Central Kentucky for its 2012 Summer Pledge Drive, Monday, May 21 through Friday, May 25.
WUKY Radio is seeking groups, organizations, and individuals who are willing to volunteer to help answer calls and take pledges from station listeners. The station encourages interested persons to contact your friends and have them join you during this important fund-raising event. Computers are now available for all volunteers to take pledges, entering them in automatically, while making the transaction seamless and much more cost effective for the donor and station.
If your organization/group is able to provide multiple volunteers for a day or multiple shifts, WUKY will designate that specific day/shifts to your group. The station will announce on air that its phones are being answered by volunteers from the group during the designated times for your volunteers. In addition, WUKY Radio will air 10 free announcements (PSA's) on behalf of your group.
WUKY is located on the 3rd floor of McVey Hall, in the heart of the UK campus. The radio station is listener supported, with a loyal audience, yet needs volunteers during this summer drive to help make it all work.
Shifts are available during the following days and hours:
Monday, May 21: 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m.
Tuesday, May 22: 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m.
Wednesday, May 23: 6:30 a.m.-9 p.m.
