LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 2, 2017)  Although a few early events — the window-painting competition Paint the Town Blue, the banner-creation competition and the DanceBlue 5K run — took place over the weekend, the University of Kentucky Homecoming 2017 celebration continues today with the 12th annual Kitty Karnival for children of Lexington and runs through Sunday with the UK Alumni Association’s Golden Wildcat Farewell Breakfast.

This year's theme is "Superheroes: Not all Wildcats wear capes."  Visit the Homecoming schedule at http://www.ukalumni.net/homecoming for the latest information.

The Kitty Karnival has become a beloved occasion for Lexington for its evening of family-friendly fun that represents the spirit of tradition and history of UK’s Homecoming celebrations. It’s scheduled to begin at 5 p.m. today (Monday), on the Main Lawn in front of the Main Building.

Wednesday’s Mr. and Mrs. Black UK scholarship pageant, another event that has grown in popularity since it was created in the late 1980s, has also encountered scheduling problems, as its time and location were still TBD at the time of publication. Check the schedule at  for the latest information.http://www.ukalumni.net/homecoming.

Wednesday also features the always-entertaining alumni versus student basketball game 6-8 p.m., at 177 Sports Center Dr.

A series of events are planned Thursday for UK alumni, including the Golden Wildcat Society Reunion at noon to 5 p.m., at the Campbell House on South Broadway. The Icebreaker Party 4-8 p.m.. Crank & Boom Ice Cream Lounge Vault Room (1210 Manchester St. in Lexington) and Elkhorn Tavern (1200 Manchester St. in Lexington). The cost is $5 for UK Alumni Association members and $8 for nonmembers.

The Homecoming Street Fair gives current UK students a fun event Thursday 5-8 p.m., at the Wildcat Alumni Plaza Lawn.

Early Friday morning — 8-10 a.m. — the Golden Wildcat Society Reunion Breakfast is slated in the Woodford Reserve Club at Kroger Field. After breakfast there will be a recognition celebration for the Class of 1967 to receive their pins and be inducted into the Golden Wildcat Society.

On Saturday, the UK Alumni Association Homecoming Tailgate Tent Party will be set up at 5 p.m. (prior to kickoff), on the Tobacco Center Research and Development Center Lawn at 1401 University Ave. The University of Missouri versus UK football game begins 7:30 p.m.
