UK Board of Trustees Elects Officers

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 14, 2010) − Britt Brockman, an ophthalmologist from Louisville, is the new chair of the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees. Brockman was elected by the board at today's meeting. Louisville businessman James Stuckert was elected vice chair of the board, and Pikeville attorney Pamela May will continue as the board's secretary.

Brockman, who earned a bachelor's degree in pharmacy from UK and a medical degree from the University of Louisville, is managing partner of the John-Kenyon American Eye Institute and a partner in the Novamed Ambulatory Surgery Center in Louisville. He has been a member of the UK Board of Trustees since July 2008 and has served as chair of the board's Investment Committee. Brockman has served on numerous other boards including the Jewish Federation of Louisville and the Kentucky Health Care Policy Board.

Stuckert, past chairman and CEO of JJB Hilliard, WL Lyons, Inc., is a member of the  UK Hall of Distinguished Alumni as well as the Gatton College of Business and Economics Hall of Fame and the College of Engineering Hall of Fame. He also has served as president of the UK Alumni Association and chair of the UK Development Council and UK's billion dollar Capital Campaign. Stuckert was appointed to the UK Board of Trustees in July 2009.

May, who owns her own law firm, is a graduate of UK's College of Law and has been a UK trustee since 2001, serving as secretary of the board for the last few years. May has a noted legal career. She is a past president of the Pike County Bar Association and is a member of several organizations including the American and Kentucky Bar Associations, Kentucky Academy of Hospital Attorneys, and the American Health Lawyers Association.
