LEXINGTON, Ky. (Jan. 25, 2026) — In the interest of the safety and well-being of the campus community, the University of Kentucky will be closed Monday, Jan. 26, due to inclement weather.

UK HealthCare facilities remain open and are operating on regular schedule.

In-person activities for students are canceled.  A list of modified operating hours are listed below.

University Plan B (designated) employees are to report to work under the university’s weather policies. Designated employees via remote access should work remotely during Plan B operations. If employees have questions about procedures for their work, they should contact their supervisor.

Out of an abundance of caution, the university is asking all faculty, staff and students who can to stay home and off the roads at this time. Road conditions remain challenging, and limiting travel helps keep everyone safe.

Staying home also allows facilities and grounds crews to continue to clear roads, parking lots and sidewalks. They are focused on getting operations that directly support students and the campus community, including dining, health care and other critical functions, back open Tuesday if at all possible.

UK sends a special thank you to all the crews who have worked tirelessly over the weekend — and will continue to work hard — to keep campus safe.

If you are on campus, please exercise caution and view tips to navigate campus safely, including maps showing the first sidewalks to be cleared during winter weather. Any changes to hours for on-campus services will be updated at www.uky.edu/alerts.

Modified operating hours for Monday, Jan. 26

  • The 90 is open 7 a.m.-8 p.m.

UK’s goal is to resume normal operations as soon as weather conditions safely allow. We will continue to monitor conditions closely and provide updates via email and at www.uky.edu/alerts.
