UK Hosts Second Forum for Associate Provost for Student and Academic Life

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 15, 2017) — The second of four candidates for the associate provost for student and academic life (SAL) position at the University of Kentucky will be on the UK campus tomorrow morning. 

Paul C. LePore, currently the associate dean of the Office of Student and Academic Programs at the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences at Arizona State University, will attend an open forum 11 a.m.-noon Thursday, Feb. 16, in the Lexmark Room, in the UK Main Building.

The search committee has selected four finalists, each of whom will visit the UK campus to participate in open forums and meet with constituent groups in the UK community. Names and curricula vitae for each of these individuals will be posted on the search website 48 business hours in advance of their forums. After these forums, UK community members will have the opportunity to submit feedback through a web form, posted on the website. 

The associate provost for student and academic life is a senior-level position that reports directly to the provost and is the focal point for the university’s effort to align student life with academic success. The associate provost for SAL will support the goals of the university through vision and direction of the SAL unit, while also serving as chief advisor to the provost in recommending new university-wide initiatives and special programs that provide the right scaffolding and services to help students be academically and socially successful at the undergraduate level.

This individual will collaborate with the provost, deans and other campus leaders to develop and execute plans and goals for SAL and lead coordination of policies and programs across the spectrum of student services that are grounded in the most up-to-date literature in order to have the greatest impact on the university’s and students’ co-curricular and curricular goals, including but not limited to increasing retention, persistence and graduation rates.
