UK road closures and parking impacts planned during K Week

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 17, 2026) — As the University of Kentucky welcomes students back to campus for K Week, there will be temporary road closures and parking impacts associated with specific events. 

Avenue of Champions closure for Wildcat Fest 

Avenue of Champions will be closed on Wednesday, Aug. 19, from 4–midnight

The closure will extend along Avenue of Champions between the Gatton Student Center and Rose Street to accommodate increased pedestrian traffic and event activities. 

Motorists should avoid the area during the closure and plan alternate routes. 

NOTE: Traffic could be impacted before 4 p.m. due to event set up. Watch for signs and follow directions from UK Police.  

The closure of Avenue of Champions will affect Blue and White campus bus routes during the event. Riders should expect delays and detours and allow additional travel time. 

Updated route information will be available through UK Transportation Services communication channels. 

Linden Walk E Lot closure for Newman Center “LexVegas” 

Linden Walk E Lot will close in the evening on Tuesday, Aug. 18, through Wednesday, Aug. 19.

The lot will reopen mid-morning on Thursday, Aug. 20.  

Alternative parking locations for E permit holders include: 

  • Alumni E Lot 
  • Career Center E Lot 
  • Coliseum E Lots 
  • College View E Lots 
  • PS #5 (available and free)

Avenue of Champions will be closed on Saturday, Aug. 22 from 4–midnight

The closure will extend along Avenue of Champions between South Limestone and Martin Luther King Boulevard to accommodate increased pedestrian traffic and event activities.  

Motorists should avoid the area during the closure and plan alternate routes.
