LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 4, 2017) Sonja Feist-Price strives to encourage, inspire and support students, faculty and staff in her new leadership role at the University of Kentucky.

Feist-Price recently began her tenure as University of Kentucky vice president for Institutional Diversity, a job she says puts her in the position to give back to students — helping them achieve their potential and realize all the opportunities that exist for them.

Under Feist-Price's leadership, UK has made tremendous strides in creating a community of belonging. INSIGHT Into Diversity recently named UK a Diversity Champion — one of only 15 Diversity Champion colleges and universities across the nation.

UKNow recently took a campus walk with Feist-Price to learn more about her own educational journey as a first-generation high school graduate and what she hopes to accomplish in her new role at UK. Watch the video above to hear what advice she has for students.

This video is part of a new, bi-monthly UKNow series called "Campus Walks." The idea is to get out of the office and onto campus with members of the UK community, so UKNow can have in-depth, authentic conversations about the university with the people working so hard to advance its mission of education, research and service.

If there is someone on campus you would like to see featured in a future "Campus Walks," email us
