While YoU(K) Were Away…

:

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 18, 2011) – When most people think about college campuses in the summer, quiet buildings and empty parking lots probably come to mind first. However, at UK, faculty, staff and students spend thousands of hours preparing for the fall and the start of the semester. In this special six-day UKNow series, “While YoU(K) Were Away,” Wildcats will get an insider’s look at how various campus departments and student organizations prepare for the beginning of school.

This series will show how the residence halls are prepared for the more than 5,000 students who will live there, how Dining Services keeps families cool and fed during move-in, how students organize some of the largest events on campus, how faculty members have worked to restructure UK’s core curriculum to better serve students and make them better for the workforce and how UK’s nine days of fun, better known as K Week, really happens.

“While YoU(K) Were Away” kicks off on UKNow Friday, Aug. 19. Check out the video above for a sneak peak at what is coming up over the next few days and visit UKNow everyday for the latest installment of the series!
