WUKY Takes Home Top Radio Awards From KY Associated Press

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 1, 2014) ― WUKY news reporters were honored with several awards at the 2014 Kentucky Associated Press Broadcasters Banquet Saturday, March 29.

WUKY’s Josh James took home two first place awards: Best Radio Reporter and Best Short Serious News Feature for "Tax Cases Could Have Far Reaching Implications For State Libraries," a story detailing the legal cases challenging the authority of state libraries to raise tax levels. He was also named "Best of Show" in the radio category.

"It's an honor to be recognized by my peers, who have all done such great work this year," James said. "Working with our news team at WUKY is a rewarding experience in itself, and I look forward to another year of covering the issues that are important to the community and the state."

"This recognition for Josh is long overdue as he has been doing stellar work in our department for nearly a decade,"  WUKY News Director Alan Lytle said. Former WUKY reporter Brenna Angel received two honorable mentions: Best Short Light News Features for "So Long, Film: Movie Theaters Struggle to Keep Up with Digital Conversion" and Best Special Series Documentary for "Appalachian Colleges Struggling to Keep Students."
