College of Ag Unit Will Now Be Called 'Family Sciences'
LEXINGTON, Ky. (May 3, 2011) — The University of Kentucky Board of Trustees today approved a change in the name of the College of Agriculture's Department of Family Studies to the Department of Family Sciences, effective July 1, 2011.
Departmental faculty members voted to change the name of the department to create a consistent identity and better reflect the teaching, research, and engagement activities of the department.
The name change of this educational unit received all necessary internal approvals and was recommended by the University Senate, with the support of UK Provost Kumble Subbaswamy.
The Department of Family Sciences is one of the units within the college's School of Human Environmental Sciences.
