College of Arts and Sciences' Podcast Features Alzheimer's Research
LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 16, 2012) — The College of Arts and Sciences produces podcasts that demonstrate work being done by the faculty and students in the college. Each week, UKNow will highlight a podcast. This week focuses on Alan Butterfield and his research on oxidative stress on the brain, one of the main components of Alzheimer's disease.
Allan Butterfield is UK's Alumni Association Endowed Professor of Biological Chemistry at UK and the director of the Center for Membrane Sciences. In this podcast, he describes his research group's experiments and results, and he talks about fighting the disease by stimulating the brain's production of antioxidants.
