EA Adviser Recognized at NAFSA Conference

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 14, 2012) — University of Kentucky Education Abroad adviser Thomas Teague was recognized at the 64th NAFSA Annual Conference and Expo in Houston, Texas, for the excellence of his poster, “ISP 599: A New Approach to Providing Ongoing Orientation at a Large Public Institution.”

NAFSA: Association of International Educators is a leading professional organization dedicated to international education. The NAFSA Annual Conference brings together more than 8,500 professionals in the field of international education for five days of training workshops, educational sessions, networking opportunities, special events and poster sessions.

Teague presented in a poster session titled “Enhancing Learning Before, During and After Education Abroad,” in which he discussed the model for orientation and intervention programming that he is developing for UK Education Abroad students. Teague received a certificate recognizing the excellence of his work and his model poster.

“It can take considerable effort for students to plan for the academic, professional and financial aspects of an education abroad experience,” Teague said. “Developing new initiatives and programs that promote the success of our students, both here and abroad, is the goal of this work, so that our students feel appropriately supported and understand the value of such a transformative experience like education abroad.”
