Final Four Impact on March 31 Bus Service, Parking

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 30, 2012) — As we head into an exciting weekend for UK basketball fans, Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) would like to alert the campus community to parking and bus service changes in place for Saturday evening.

Lexington-Fayette Urban County Government will be restricting parking in metered spaces along certain city streets beginning around 5 p.m. on Saturday, March 31. Cars that remain parked in the restricted portions of the street will be towed by the Lexington Police Department during the game, which tips off at 6:09 p.m. The areas include the portion of South Limestone between Avenue of Champions and East Maxwell Street, the portion of Woodland Avenue between Rose Lane and East Maxwell Street and the portion of Euclid Avenue between Transylvania Park and Kentucky Avenue. No CATS bus service will be impacted on Saturday. However, Lextran’s Colt Trolley and Student Government’s Cats Cruiser routes may be detoured or suspended due to crowding and/or closed streets. Both Lextran and PTS will be communicating any changes to service through their respective Twitter streams, found at www.twitter.com/lextran and www.twitter.com/ukparking. Lextran will also be posting updates on their Facebook page.

PTS will also be broadcasting updates via 1700 AM (WQKH 253), in the event of an emergency.

Members of the campus community are encouraged to tune into 1700 AM (WQKH 253) to hear campus parking and transportation information. The station broadcasts 24 hours, 7 days a week.
