Jazz Up Thanksgiving Weekend With Newport Jazz Festival on WUKY HD3
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 19, 2012) Jazz up your Thanksgiving weekend on WUKY’s HD3 with the legendary Newport Jazz Festival. Listeners will be able to enjoy four straight days of jazz, which will start Thanksgiving Day and run through Sunday, Nov 25.
First held in 1954, the festival has long been an important yearly showcase of top jazz stars. WUKY will broadcast selected sets from the past three years of the Newport Jazz Festival including veteran artists as well as younger musicians who represent currents in contemporary jazz. Performances from artists such as Bill Frisell, The Charles Mingus Big Band, Kurt Elling, Regina Carter, Ravi Coltrane, and others will be featured.
