Staff Senator Melanie G. Elam said she ran for Staff Senate to make a difference.  She said being a senator is being committed to making things better for everyone at the University of Kentucky.

"Being a part of Staff Senate is a way to be challenged to be involved, informed, and make a difference. Along the way, you can make friends, and share ideas," Elam said.  "Staff Senate gives you a higher level of understanding, so you can contribute to the overall mission, vision, and values of the university. Because of all the changes in our current economy, it is even more important for everyone to pull together and try to make a difference in the quality of life."
