OLLI at UK to Hold Fall Open House in Somerset

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 12, 2012) − If you are an adult age 50 or over and love learning and expanding your knowledge simply for the joy of it, you are invited to learn about the events and programs at the Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) at the University of Kentucky in Somerset's Fall Preview and Registration from 1 to 2:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 19, at the Pulaski County Public Library at 304 South Main Street in Somerset.

Join a dynamic group of adult learners in and around Pulaski County who will share and discuss ideas and common interests together.

At the OLLI Fall Preview and Registration, a special program will open the event:  The Art of Music and Word with Diane Bullock:  Telling the Story of OLLI.  Instructor presentations will follow, and then registration tables will open.

Fall courses will include: the War of 1812; the Kennedy Assassination Continues; Emergency Preparedness Series; Stress Relief for Beginners; and Beginning Acrylic Painting II:  Beyond the Colors.  The Special Interest Group, Writing Your Family History, is continuing and accepting new members.  The day long bus trip, Horses, Hooch and History Tour, includes tours of a thoroughbred horse farm, the Glen Willis House, Buffalo Trace Distillery and lunch.

At the Fall Preview and Registration you can chat with instructors, register for Fall courses and SIGs, meet people with the same interests and find new interests, and sign up to get involved with OLLI volunteer committees.  Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be drawn.

Course registration tables will open following the program and instructor presentations.  Fall membership is $10.  Most course fees are $10, but some fees may vary. Registration will open at open house and is on a first come basis.
