of

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 2, 2013) ― How can you help prevent the zombie apocalypse?  By attending the University of Kentucky's first Laboratory Safety Fair scheduled from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 9 in the second floor atrium of the Biomedical/Biological Sciences Research Building (BBSRB).  The Laboratory Safety Fair is sponsored by the Division of Environmental Health & Safety (EH&S).

The theme of safety fair is “Help Prevent the Zombie Apocalypse” and promotes working safely in laboratories on UK's campus.  Faculty, staff, and students working in research laboratories are invited to enjoy food, prizes, activities, and demonstrations.

Each department within EH&S (Biological Safety, Environmental Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Radiation Safety, and the Fire Marshal’s office) will have a booth and corresponding activity.  Each attendee will be asked to visit each booth, getting a card punched at each, after which they will receive a prize and be entered to win a larger prize.

The more daring participants can come dressed as a zombie at 1p.m., and judging for the best zombie begins at 1:15 p.m.  Each zombie contest participant is guaranteed a free T-shirt.  The winner will receive a prize of apocalyptic proportions!
