Published: Nov 14, 2011

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 14, 2011) – Television viewers across the country now know the story of the University of Kentucky alum who is researching his way into medical history.

Last week, the CBS Evening News aired a story about Mark Davis, who was recently featured on the UK hompage for his research into finding new ways to treat cancer.

Davis is a pioneer known for his work in nanomedicine and chemical synthesis and serves as the Schlinger Professor of Chemical Engineering at the California Institute of Technology.  In fact, the Pennsylvania native, who has a bachelor's degree, master's degree and doctorate in chemical engineering from UK — was named one of 65 new members of the Institute of Medicine, one of the highest honors in the fields of health and medicine.

This past summer, Davis sat down to tell his inspiring story of how his wife's near death from her treatments for breast cancer drove him to find a better way to treat this devastating disease.
