UK Crime Bulletin: Sexual Abuse

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 17, 2015) — The following University of Kentucky Crime Bulletin was sent to the UK campus community via email this afternoon.

In the interest of safety, the University of Kentucky Police Department has issued the following Crime Bulletin for the UK community.

On Thursday, December 17, 2015, UK Police Department received a report of sexual abuse that occurred Wednesday evening, in The Arboretum on UK's campus.  It was reported that a female who was running in The Arboretum was a victim of sexual abuse by an unknown male suspect.  The victim in this case is not a student.  The incident is being investigated. 

The victim described the suspect as a white male, around 20 years old, of short stature with light colored hair and wearing a white shirt and bright shorts.  She reported that she was running on the paved track of The Arboretum shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday when the suspect ran past her as another runner approached.  Once past the other runner, the suspect slowed down and as she passed him, he slapped and groped her backside.  He then ran away in the opposite direction toward the parking lot. 

  

University of Kentucky Police Department has issued this Crime Bulletin for the UK Community in compliance with the “Timely Notice” provision of the federal Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Police and Campus Crime Statistics Act of 1998.
