UK Remembers: a Memorial Event to be Held Monday

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 6, 2012) ― UK Remembers, a special memorial event to honor members of the University of Kentucky community who have died in the past year, will take place from 12:10-12:50 p.m. Monday, April 9, on the north lawn of the Main Building.  This is the third annual UK Remembers event.

The ceremony, which is open to all students, faculty, staff and alumni, will reflect on the lives and accomplishments of those who have passed. Speakers will include UK President Eli Capilouto, Student Government President Micah Fielden, UK Alumni Association President Cammie Grant, University Senate Chair Hollie Swanson and Staff Senate Chair Mike Adams. The UK Air Force ROTC Honor Guard will present flags and representatives of the UK School of Music will perform.

UK Remembers is organized by representatives from UK's Student Government Association, Staff Senate and Office of Work-Life with additional support from the UK Alumni Association and University Senate.  The event originated from a suggestion to UK's Make the Difference program submitted by Nathaniel Hopkins of the UK Counseling Center.
