Army to Showcase Modern Military Medicine with Display at UK

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 30, 2012) –   Army healthcare providers will showcase modern military medicine in a display set up from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 4, in the second floor atrium at the University of Kentucky’s Biomedical Biological Sciences Research Building.  The Army’s Forward Surgical Team display features the equipment necessary to perform life-saving procedures on the battlefield or in austere environments.

Forward Surgical Teams deploy to warzones or natural disaster areas where they can launch their equipment and begin performing surgery within an hour of arrival. Army healthcare professionals will share their deployment experiences and explain the equipment that accompanies the team.

Army medical recruiters will be on hand to answer questions about Army medical scholarships and career opportunities. Five medical students and eight dental students are currently attending UK on full-tuition Army scholarships.
