Alumni Association Announces Board of Directors Officers

LEXINGTON, Ky, (June 28, 2012) ― The University of Kentucky Alumni Association recently announced its 2012-2013 Board of Directors officers. They are Dr. George A. Ochs, president; Brenda B. Gosney, president-elect; Elaine Adams Wilson, treasurer; and Stan Key, secretary. The new officers will take office July 1, 2012, and will serve until June 30, 2013.

Dr. George A. Ochs of Louisville attended the University of Kentucky from 1967 through 1970 majoring in chemistry and biology. While an undergraduate he was a member of Keys, Lances, and Alpha Epsilon Delta honor societies. Also, he was a member of Sigma Chi social fraternity and served as secretary. After three years of undergraduate work he entered the University of Kentucky College of Dentistry and graduated with a Doctor of Dental Medicine degree in 1974. Ochs is a Life Member of the UK Alumni Association and a UK Fellow. He has served as vice president of the former Jefferson County UK Alumni Club and has served on the Greater Louisville UK Alumni Club Board of Directors for the past 22 years. He is serving his fourth term on the UK Alumni Association Board of Directors and is a past president of the Greater Louisville UK Alumni Club (served two terms, 2004-2006). Ochs is the recipient of the 2007 UK Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. He is married to UK Fellow and UK Alumni Association Life Member Page Moore Ochs. They have three children: Tyler, Alden, and Abbey. George Ochs is in private practice in Louisville and is a member of the Kentucky Dental Association, the Kentucky Thoroughbred Owners and Breeders Association and National Thoroughbred Racing Association.

Brenda B. Gosney of Butler graduated from the University of Kentucky in 1970 with a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy. She received her master’s degree in higher and adult education from UK in 1975. She was an assistant professor in the Physical Therapy Program of the College of Allied Health (now College of Health Sciences) at UK. She recently retired as CEO of HealthSouth Northern Kentucky Rehabilitation Hospital. Gosney has served on the Board of Directors of the Northern Kentucky/Greater Cincinnati UK Alumni Club and has held the offices of president and secretary. As a member of the UK Alumni Association Board of Directors, Gosney has chaired the Club Development, Scholarship and Great Teachers and Membership Committees. She is currently chair of the Nominating Committee. Gosney is a 2010 recipient of the UK Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award. She is a member of the American and Kentucky Physical Therapy Association (KPTA). She served on the board of directors of KPTA and held the offices of president and vice president. She is on the board of directors of the Northern Kentucky Chamber of Commerce and has served on the Executive Committee as secretary and vice chairwoman of the Health Initiatives Committee. Gosney is a Life Member of the UK Alumni Association and a University of Kentucky Fellow. She resides in Campbell County with her husband, Dennis Gosney.

Elaine Adams Wilson of Somerset received a bachelor’s degree in social work from the University of Kentucky and a master’s degree in social administration from Case Western Reserve University in Cleveland, Ohio. She has been a Life Member of the UK Alumni Association since 1987. Active for many years with the Lake Cumberland UK Alumni Club, she served as secretary/treasurer, then as club president for three years. The club received several association awards. Wilson served as a member of the UK Board of Trustees for six years. This tenure included membership on the UK Business Partnership Foundation Board, the UK Undergraduate Education Advisory Board, Executive, Academic Affairs and Human Resources committees, the Ad Hoc Committee on UK Affiliate Boards, and a term as secretary to the board. She currently serves as a member of the UK College of Social Work Advisory Board, Lexington Singers Board of Directors, Somerset Independent Schools Board of Education, Pulaski County Library Board of Directors president, and the Hospice of Lake Cumberland Board of Directors. She was a recipient of the Lyman T. Johnson Path Finder’s Award. Wilson was a 2011 recipient of the UK Alumni Association Distinguished Service Award, and she is a UK Fellow. She serves as the cultural diversity director for Somerset Community College. She is widowed and has three adult sons: David of Richmond, Ky.; Jonathon of Fort Knox, Ky.; and Nicholas of Washington, D.C.

Stan Key of Lexington earned a bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Kentucky in 1972. He also earned a master’s degree in education from Murray State University in 1977. He is the director of UK Alumni Affairs and serves as executive director and secretary of the UK Alumni Association.
