Spring Concert Series features A Lion Named Roar
LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 29, 2012) – These Louisville natives have gone from playing in local venues to showcasing at one of the largest music festivals in the United States, South by Southwest, and now they’ll be on campus for the spring concert series starting at 5:30 p.m. Thursday, March 29, at Ovid’s Cafe Outdoor Patio. This event is free and is sponsored by the Student Activities Board.
A Lion Named Roar has not only captured the attention of a loyal fan base in their hometown of Louisville, but they also caught the attention of managers from Primary Wave Management, who also signed pop artist, Cee-Lo Green. The band released their first record, "Said & Done," independently with great reviews. Oustage.com, a partner of MTV Music, has described their upbeat, rock style of songs and the band itself as “a name we will never forget”.
These five band mates are on the climb and are making every effort possible to get their name out, but it seems they won’t have much trouble with that.
“I’m really looking forward to seeing [A Lion Named Roar], a local artist with the great potential of becoming a nationally known artist,” said Seth Murphy, director of SAB concerts committee. “I have a feeling they’re going to be one of the bands to keep an eye out for in the next three to five years.”
The Student Activities Board brings more than 100 entertaining, educational and enriching programs that are reflective of contemporary issues and trends to the University of Kentucky annually. These programs are designed to enhance the college experience for students, faculty, staff and the greater Lexington community.
