Discount Offered for Gatton CBA Program

LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 1, 2011) − The Certificate in Business Administration (CBA) program is offering discounted registration fees for the session beginning September 8 and running through November 17 at the University of Kentucky's Gatton College of Business and Economics.

This unique program is designed for individuals without business backgrounds who want the preliminary knowledge and skills that are essential to meet the challenges of today's business world. The CBA will refine current skills and permit worldly businessperson attributes without the time commitment a degree requires.

Distinguished faculty and guest speakers from the Gatton College of Business and Economics along with hands-on experience will produce first-rate training in a 10-session period. Each three-hour evening session will focus on vital topics such as Power, Conflict and Negotiation in Organizations, Essentials of Marketing, Organization Design, Accounting and Financial Decision Making, and Process Management.

The program is comprised of 10 three-hour sessions from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays,  including a welcome reception, orientation and certificate presentation reception.  Attendance to each CBA class is highly recommended; to receive a certificate of completion, attendance at nine out of the 10 classes is required. If eight or less classes are attended, a letter of attendance for the hours completed will be given. Individuals who attend all of the sessions will earn 27.5 course hours of continuing education credit and a certificate of completion.

"The course is designed to provide an understanding of business terms, practices, and tools to make informed business decisions," said Connie Blakemore, assistant director of Gatton's Executive Education Center.  "The CBA program is open to all interested persons."

A discounted price of $800 for the entire program is being offered for non-UK students who sign up by Aug. 1. After that date, the full registration fee of $888 will be charged for non-UK students. Registration fee for UK employees and students at any time is $750.
