LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 2, 2020) — University of Kentucky medical experts will discuss the current campus landscape as it relates to COVID-19, as well as the institution’s robust, data-driven approach to public health interventions in a Facebook Live event on Thursday, Sept. 3 at noon at https://www.facebook.com/universityofky/.

Robert DiPaola, dean of the UK College of Medicine, and Rebecca Dutch, a faculty member in UK’s Department of Molecular and Cellular Biochemistry, will provide their expert analysis in the live Q&A. Members of the community are invited to submit questions in advance to coronavirus@uky.edu.

Both DiPaola and Dutch serve on UK’s START team (Screening, Testing and Tracing to Accelerate Restart)—the group of experts that guided the creation of UK’s Playbook for Reinvented Operations. This team of public health scholars, infectious disease experts and clinicians continues to provide guidance for the institution’s testing, tracing and screening protocols.

The Facebook live event will coincide with the release of an expanded dashboard the institution is publishing this week, which will include an expanded set of data points related to the current campus impact of COVID-19. The data dashboard will be updated daily.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
