Webinar on Diversity Initiatives at UK Being Held Sept. 16.
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 14, 2020) — In recent weeks, the University of Kentucky has taken a number of substantive steps to demonstrate its commitment toward becoming a more diverse, equitable and inclusive campus community by investing in research around issues of racial disparities and inequities, partnering with national organizations to examine and address issues of educational access, and re-aligning the institution’s senior administration to better reflect a diverse campus.
Join the UK Alumni Association and the Office for Institutional Diversity (OID) for a lively discussion on the importance of diversity initiatives at UK and how they can best support students now and in the future. Register for the webinar, Building a Diverse Community Through Scholarship and Student Support, scheduled for noon Wednesday, Sept. 16, via Zoom.
The event’s moderator is Quentin Tyler, ’02 ’05 ’11, the associate dean for diversity, equity and inclusion at the Michigan State University College of Agriculture and Natural Resources. Tyler is also chairman of the UK Alumni Association Board of Directors Diversity & Engagement Committee.

- Taunya A. Phillips, ’87 ’04, immediate past president of the UK Alumni Association and senior associate director of new ventures and alliances in the UK Office of Technology Commercialization
- Lee A. Jackson, ’73, president of the UK Alumni Association Lyman T. Johnson African-American UK Alumni Group
- Johnathon T. Davis, ’92, CEO, founder and managing partner at JT Davis Asset Management
- Jason C. Brooks, executive director for institutional engagement in the UK Office for Institutional Diversity
- Elaine A. Wilson, ’68, past president of the UK Alumni Association and director of diversity, equity & inclusion, Somerset Community College, Kentucky Community and Technical College System
