Concordia, UK Partner to Host Lexington Summit; UK Community Offered Limited Complimentary Passes
LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 29, 2022) — Next week, the University of Kentucky is partnering with Concordia, a member-based nonprofit that builds partnerships for social impact, to host a first-of-its-kind event, the 2022 Lexington Summit. The conference will take place April 7-8 at the Lexington Marriott City Center. Founded 12 years ago, Concordia is the leading global affairs forum, engaging the world’s most influential leaders around finding solutions to the greatest challenges of our time.
Through a nonpartisan forum, the Lexington Summit will convene public, private, and nonprofit sector leaders, including Governor Andy Beshear; Mayor Linda Gorton; Ashley C. Smith, CEO of Black Soil Kentucky; Nate Morris, chairman and CEO of Rubicon Technologies; and, Parker Harris, co-founder and global CTO of Salesforce, among many others. The Lexington Summit will also hear from members of the UK community, including President Eli Capilouto, J. David Rosenberg College of Law Dean Mary J. Davis, and UK College of Education Dean Julian Vasquez Heilig. View the full list of speakers.
Along with the J. David Rosenberg College of Law, the Gatton College of Business and Economics, and the College of Education, Concordia has partnered with Rubicon Technologies, VISA, Salesforce, Winrock International, Awesome Inc. and many more leading organizations — each of which bring a unique perspective to the pillars of this program. From Russia’s invasion of Ukraine and the response of the U.S., to America’s increasing socioeconomic divide and the need for free-market solutions that support environmental sustainability, the Lexington Summit will create opportunities for dialogue, debate, and partnership. The Lexington Summit will offer our UK community a unique opportunity to have a seat at the table with local, national and global leaders working to address some of society’s most pressing issues. As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
In 2022, UK was ranked by Forbes as one of the “Best Employers for New Grads” and named a “Diversity Champion” by INSIGHT into Diversity, a testament to our commitment to advance Kentucky and create a community of belonging for everyone. While our mission looks different in many ways than it did in 1865, the vision of service to our Commonwealth and the world remains the same. We are the University for Kentucky.
