LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 12, 2017) — The University of Kentucky Markey Cancer Center will host its annual Expressions of Courage Survivor Arts Celebration on Friday, June 9.

As June is Cancer Survivorship Month, this event celebrates the progress of cancer patients and showcases the artistic contributions of many of them. Visual, literary and performing art products that are connected to a cancer diagnosis or experience will be featured.  Participants will also have the opportunity to connect with members of the Markey Healthy Living Panel to learn more about enhancing health and recovery for themselves and their loved ones. According to the National Cancer Institute, all patients are considered survivors from the day they are diagnosed and every day thereafter.

Expressions of Courage will take place from 10:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Combs Cancer Research Building and the nearby UK Markey Cancer Center campus.  All are welcome and encouraged to attend, enjoy the art, and share in the celebration.  Lunch will be provided for registered survivors and their guests.  For more information and/or to register, visit http://ukhealthcare.uky.edu/markey/courage/
