McGillis to Serve as Academic Ombud for 2017-2018

LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 28, 2017) — Joe McGillis, in the Department of Microbiology, Immunology and Molecular Genetics in the College of Medicine, will assume the role of University of Kentucky academic ombud for the 2017-2018 academic year.

The Office of Academic Ombud Services at the University of Kentucky, is responsible for assisting students and instructors in resolving academic related problems and conflicts. The office ensures that fair policies, processes and procedures are equitably implemented.

McGillis’ term will begin July 1, 2017. 

"On behalf of the university, I want to extend sincere thanks to our current ombud, Mr. Michael Healy, for his excellent service during the past three years,” said UK Provost Tim Tracy. “Mr. Healy carried out the duties of the office with a very high level of professionalism and conscientiousness, and the UK family was well served by his work.”
