UK Recognizes Development Achievements With Mobley Awards

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Dec. 2, 2011) -- The University of Kentucky recognized faculty and staff from across campus at the annual Terry B. Mobley Awards ceremony for excellence in furthering UK’s development efforts. The ceremony was held Wednesday, Nov. 30.

This year’s award winners include William Lubawy, associate dean for academic affairs, College of Pharmacy; Charlotte B. Rice, prospect analyst, Office of  Development; and Lori Armstrong Wilson, events planning manager, UK HealthCare.

UK President Eli Capilouto congratulated the award winners at the ceremony and underscored the importance of private philanthropy for the university.

Recipients were nominated by UK staff and faculty. Each award consists of an honorarium generated by the Terry B. Mobley Awards Endowment and an engraved julep cup. Recipients’ names will also be added to a recognition wall located in the Sturgill Development Building on campus.

Lubawy won the 2011 Development Service Award. This honor is conferred upon a UK administrator, faculty or staff member who demonstrates extraordinary support for the development efforts at the university, and who is also a strong advocate for UK through service to local, state or national organizations.

Rice and Wilson won the 2011 Front Line Awards which are presented to support staff members to recognize outstanding performance in support of fundraising efforts at UK. Each year, one Front Line Award is presented to a support staff member in the Office of Development, and one award is given to a development support staff member in one of the UK's colleges or programs.

The Mobley Awards are designed to honor the distinguished development career of Terry B. Mobley by recognizing and rewarding staff and faculty who have demonstrated outstanding performance and personal achievement in the field of development. Mobley served the university for 27 years as chief development officer and retired recently as vice president for institutional advancement.

“I am extremely proud of all our development staff and others across campus who work hard to advance the university through private philanthropy,” observes Mike Richey, UK’s vice president for development and chief development officer. “Their efforts and the generosity of UK alumni and friends combine to help the university accomplish its historic mission of education, research, service and outreach.

“I am also pleased that we can honor the outstanding contribution of Terry Mobley to the university by recognizing others who are following in his footsteps.”
