Registration for 2013 Women's Forum Conference is Open

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 14, 2013) — What better way to start your day than a complimentary create-your-own scrambled egg omelet breakfast and a keynote address by Grace Gorrell?

Titled “Hear Me Roar,” this year’s annual UK Women’s Forum Conference is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, and will address health topics, how to raise a confident daughter and how to navigate social media. Participants are encouraged to register before the event, but individuals can register at the door at 8:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Three breakout sessions will allow attendees to choose a particular learning track. Or, participants can learn a bit of everything with career, home and self-topics.

Vice President for Financial Planning Angie Martin; Debra Graham, senior training specialist and performance consultant from UK Human Resources; and UK Police Officer Bob Pearl are a few of the speakers who will be in attendance.

Grace Gorrell has worked for UK College Of Agriculture, Food and Environment for 27 years. She served as a county extension agent for 4-H in Shelby and Fayette Counties, as the assistant director for Agriculture Alumni and Development and is currently the assistant director for the Center for Leadership Development. Gorrell’s undergraduate degree is from UK in the area of management and family economics. She received her master's degree at North Carolina State University in adult and community college education with a minor in public administration.

Gorrell has a tremendous passion for helping others discover that they “do” have leadership abilities and in turn help them understand how they can use those skills to improve their professional and personal life. In her role at the center she coordinates and teaches leadership programs for adults as well as young people.

This free development opportunity is open to any UK employee — including faculty, staff, full-time and part-time employees, and will be held  in the Grand Ballroom of the UK Student Center. A free autumn chili and salad bar lunch is also provided.

Those who participate will receive a lunch tote, water bottle and an opportunity to win prizes. For more information, as well as registration, visit the UK Women’s Forum website at www.uky.edu/womensforum
