Health Smart: Conversations About Your Health

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 21, 2010) -- The latest topic for the University of Kentucky Health & Wellness program Health Smart: Conversations About Your Health is "Understanding Alzheimer’s and Dementia."

The target audience is UK employees who are caring for an aging loved one or those who may be concerned about their own memory, thinking and concentration.

Dr. Gregory Jicha, assistant professor in the Department of Neurology and the UK Sanders-Brown Center on Aging, will be the speaker from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 21, at 127 Wethington Building (Commons).  Attendees will learn about the symptoms, causes and treatments for Alzheimer's Disease and dementia.

The goal of Health Smart is to help employees make informed choices about their health and their family's health, such as knowing when to seek professional medical care or when to treat an ailment or injury at home. The free monthly sessions are scheduled at the lunch hour so those attending can bring their own lunch.
