Musicians Needed for a Great Campus Gig

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 17, 2010) – Do you have a band that needs a venue? We have a venue that needs a band.

Any University of Kentucky employee who is a member of a band or other musical group has a chance of performing for a potential crowd of thousands at UK's first Fun Night, scheduled the evening of May 19 on campus.

Three acts will be selected by a panel of anonymous judges from across campus who will independently choose their three favorite acts. Judges will not be affiliated with any musical group, and only musical acts with at least one UK employee are eligible.

Musical groups interested in auditioning for Fun Night must submit an application form with either five copies of a video or a YouTube Web-link of the band's performance in one of the following genres: country, country rock, jazz or soft rock. The completed form and the videos – either on CD, DVD or Flash Drive – or a YouTube link must be received at the Staff Senate Office, 202C Main Building, by 5 p.m. Friday, Feb. 19.

For more information, please see the Musical Acts Audition Information Form at http://www.uky.edu/Staff/Senate/about/fun/0910/pdf/audition_info_form.pdf. Read the entire form and follow the instructions.

"This is a rare opportunity for someone to have his or her musical voice heard by co-workers. And it promises to be a lot of fun. I encourage any employee who is a member of a band to try out," said the overall chair of the Staff Appreciation Day Commission 2010, Mike Adams.
