Staff Senate Prepares for Trustee Election

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 23, 2010) – On March 10, the Staff Senate began accepting self-nominations for the staff representative to the University of Kentucky Board of Trustees and will continue to accept completed nominations through 4 p.m. March 24.

Forms and petitions may be printed from the Staff Senate Web site at http://www.uky.edu/Staff/Senate/ or picked up at the Staff Senate election committee office in 202C Main Building. Anyone interested may also contact Staff Senate office coordinator Holly Clark at (859) 257-9242 or any staff senator, who will have access to the documents.

All potential candidates will have the opportunity to have their views heard by UK staff at an open forum held during the regularly scheduled Staff Senate meeting at 1:30 p.m. April 8, in the William T. Young Library auditorium.

Primary voting begins April 21 and runs through May 5. All voting will be done electronically with staff using either their link blue account or UK ID number and birth date. Staff may access the voting Web site by following the link on the Staff Senate Web site; instructions for voting will be outlined there.

The role of staff representative to the Board of Trustees is to be an important liaison between the staff and the board. Staff Senate members urge all staff members to vote.
