UK Employees Encouraged to Obtain New ID Card

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 7, 2013) ― All University of Kentucky faculty, staff and students must obtain new ID cards as part of the University of Kentucky's installation of its first high-tech, comprehensive security management system.  UK Police encourages university employees (except UK HealthCare employees) to have their WildCard ID cards made now to avoid the rush when students return to campus for the Fall 2013 semester.

UK HealthCare ID badge integration will occur later in the fall and additional information and instruction will be forthcoming regarding that transition. Faculty, staff and students of main campus who need access to the UK HealthCare facilities should continue to use their current UK HealthCare badge until that transition is complete.

University employees (except UK HealthCare) who have a current Faculty/Staff WildCard (laminated ID card with photo) should bring that card with them for replacement. Employees who have not received a Faculty/Staff WildCard will be issued the first one free of charge. Proof of identification in the form of a government issued photo ID (such as a driver's license or passport) will be required. There is a $30 replacement fee for a lost or stolen employee WildCard.

An optional ID card holder with lanyard is also available for $5.00.

The WildCard UKID Center is located in Room 107 of the UK Student Center. Hours are 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Monday through Friday.

Upon completion, UK's new $4.8 million security system will include video monitoring of campus, centralized building access control, increased early warning communication capabilities and standard campus identification badges.
