LEXINGTON, Ky. (July 28, 2025) — Registration is now open for the University of Kentucky Office of Undergraduate Research (OUR) seventh annual Summer Research Symposium. This year’s symposium will be 4:30-6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, in the Gatton Student Center Ballrooms B and C.

Established in 2018, the event showcases summer undergraduate research and creativity in partnership with UK faculty and mentors across all fields.

The symposium is an informal, interactive presentation opportunity allowing students to present their summer research or creative works in a small group setting through a five-minute “elevator pitch” or lightning talk.

The event gives students from all disciplines an opportunity to engage in public outreach and refine their presentation skills. No research posters or slides will be needed. Each small group of summer scholars is hosted by a faculty mentor.

Presenting at the symposium showcases student research, strengthens presentation skills and boosts visibility in the research community.

Registration closes Aug. 20. All UK undergraduate students engaged in summer research activities and creative work are eligible to present at the symposium. Students can register online.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
