On-Campus Residents Offered Incentives to Stay
Students living in the Kirwan-Blanding Complex now and other on-campus residents who choose to live there next year are being offered several incentives to re-apply, including: locking in the 2013 housing rate (pending Board of Trustees approval); getting priority to apply for parking in proximity to the complex; requesting the same residence hall, same room or a single room at a special rate; requesting group assignments so that groups of friends can live close to each other; and being entered into a drawing for special prizes including an iPad Mini.
"We know students make friendships that last a lifetime while living on campus," said Sarah Nikirk, associate director of UK Auxiliary Services. "We want them to have the opportunity to continue to enjoy those relationships as well as the many services that are only available to students living on campus."
Oct. 21-24 is Re-apply for Housing Week, culminating with a tailgate party from 4 to 9 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24. Students who re-apply on or before Oct. 24 will receive their hall and roommate assignment via email for Fall 2014 before Thanksgiving.
“Living on-campus is a very special and beneficial experience that we’d like to offer to as many students as possible," said Tony Ralph, director of Residence Life. "We’re excited that more students than ever will be able to return to the residence halls next year.”
