#DoMore Event Encourages Student to Change the World
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 20, 2012) — Improve Kentucky. Change the World. Create the Future. That is the simple premise behind tonight’s #DoMore speaking event hosted by UK’s Big Blue Starters student organization. The #DoMore event begins at 7 p.m., tonight, Sept. 20, in the Worsham Theater located in the Student Center on UK’s campus.
The #DoMore conference is modeled after the TED conferences and encourages students to believe in themselves and be driven to change the world. Tonight’s featured speakers are all current UK student or UK alumni who are doing amazing things, both on and off campus, to make the Commonwealth and our global community, better.
Featured speakers include:
Steven Bilas - UK Student Body President
Sarah Jones - Student Activities Board President
Chelsey Perron - Current Teacher at Conservacion Patagonica
Dance Blue Chair - The state's largest philanthropy event
Nick Such - Awesome Inc. Labs Director, BuildingLayer CEO
Daniel Nall - Wildcat Investors Co-Founder
Brian Richter - Design student
Wes Brooks - Big Blue Starters President
“We want to change the minds of students across the University of Kentucky, and hopefully someday, across our state,” Wes Brooks, Big Blue Starters president, said. “We want to show with this event that normal people, students and alumni no different than us, have everything they need to be successful. UK students and alumni have done amazing things; have seen, faced, and overcome what at the time felt like insurmountable odds; or have dared to dream and have achieved that dream. Our goal with #DoMore is to show UK students what happens when a person believes in him or herself and takes action to make their dreams a reality.”
