Join PTS for K Week at PTS 101 and Pedalpalooza

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 21, 2013) ― New to campus? Parking and Transportation Services (PTS) is helping students get acquainted with navigating the University of Kentucky by bike, bus and car through several K Week offerings.

On Sunday, Aug. 25, join PTS and the Bicycle Advisory Committee for Pedalpalooza from 3 to 5 p.m. in the Student Center parking lot for the chance to win a bike. Watch as BMX stunt riders from the Dialed Action Sports Team demonstrate their riding skills.

Students attending this event can pick up free gear designed to improve the comfort and safety of their bicycling experience, such as bicycle seat covers, lights and water bottles. Attendees may participate in skills challenges, giving them the chance to develop their bicycle knowledge and expertise in tasks like properly locking a bicycle and loading a bike on a bus. Students with current WildCard IDs who complete at least three of the five skills challenges will be entered to win a commuter bike prize package, which includes a bike, helmet, lock and lights.

PTS is also offering informational sessions on getting around campus during K Week 2013. “UK Parking and Transportation 101” will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 24, in 231 Student Center, and at 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 26, in 228 Student Center. A PTS representative will discuss topics such as parking basics, campus buses, alternative transportation and more. Attendees will also have an opportunity to get answers to their questions. If you can’t attend either presentation, visit the New Student Page on the PTS website for a refresher before classes start.
