Make Your Teacher's Day
LEXINGTON, Ky (Oct. 26, 2009) - University of Kentucky President Lee T. Todd Jr. has said that it was one of the greatest honors he has ever received – the UK Alumni Association Great Teacher Award.
Students can make their own favorite teacher feel the very same way just by submitting a nomination before Nov. 2, 2009.
The Great Teacher Award is the longest, continuously running awards program on campus to honor great teachers at UK. The award recognizes excellence in teaching at the university, whether at the undergraduate or graduate level. Each year, six teachers are presented with cash awards and recognition at a special dinner or luncheon in their honor. This year the cash distribution to each teacher will be $3,000.
What makes this award so special is that students – and only students – can submit a nomination. In addition, the student organization Omicron Delta Kappa assists in selecting the final honorees. It is the only award on campus which is based solely on what students have to say about their teachers.
Use this form to nominate a UK teacher who has meant a lot to you. Done well, the nominations will take a little time to complete, but in doing so, you will be playing a role in improving the quality of teaching at UK. All forms must be filled out completely and returned to the King Alumni House, at the corner of Rose Street and Euclid Avenue, no later than Nov. 2, 2009.
The nomination forms are located here. Print and send: (link: http://www.ukalumni.net/s/1052/index-no-right.aspx?sid=1052&gid=1&pgid=340) Online application: (link: http://alumniweb.uky.edu/alumforms/greatteacher/)
