SAB Board of Directors Application Now Available

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 3, 2010) – On the Student Activities Board (SAB) there is always something going on, and SAB needs students to make these events happen. Applications for next year’s board of directors are available now until Friday, Nov. 5.

SAB receives a portion of student fees to put together more than 50 events each semester. The 17 directors plan and execute everything from large concerts like Drake, Jason Mraz and B.O.B, to large campus events such as Campus Ruckus, Finals Crunch Brunch and Homecoming to lectures such as Blake Mycoskie and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. to homegrown events like Why We Love Hip Hop, the Final Word and Cheap Seats $1 blockbusters. In the past year, SAB has also established seven new initiatives, including SAB in the Halls and a brand new website.

Applications are available for the executive team (president, vice president of internal affairs, vice president of promotions), promotions team (director of public relations, graphic designer, assistant graphic designer, director of information technology, director of market research, and programming team (directors of campus Life, cinema, concerts, cultural arts, engaging issues, multicultural affairs, pop culture, SAB in the Halls and traditions).

“We’re a large organization that is constantly evolving, so we need fresh perspectives and new student leaders to make us the best we can be,” Sarah Ausmus, SAB president, said. “Directors also have the unique and rewarding opportunity to bring events and speakers to campus that they, and other students, may never have been able to see otherwise.”

Students who are creative, passionate, hard working and want to bring exciting and educational events to campus are encouraged to apply. Applications can be found under the “Get Involved” tab at www.uksab.org.
