Sophomore Wins Traditions T Design

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Sept. 7, 2010) — There’s a reason we’re called the Big Blue Nation. That’s what inspired Zac Adams, a pre-pharmacy major from Covington who is this year’s Traditions T-shirt design contest winner.

“When I was designing my shirt, I really wanted to encapsulate the whole UK fan base. We stretch from coast to coast, and this T-shirt recognizes all the fans across the country that are a part of it,” said Adams.

The winning design was unveiled last week during Big Blue U at Commonwealth Stadium. For his winning design, Adams received a $500 cash prize, plus two UK men’s basketball tickets and five Traditions T-shirts.

I was thrilled to win the contest,” said Adams. “I worked extremely hard on this design and it really paid off in the end. To see other people walking around wearing a shirt you designed is truly an indescribable feeling.”

Each year designs for a new shirt are accepted from all currently enrolled, full-time UK undergraduate and graduate students. UK students vote each spring to determine the winning design.

Sponsored by the UK Alumni Association, the Traditions T was established in 2007 as a means to unite the University of Kentucky student body and reinforce the pride and tradition of being a UK Wildcat.

Traditions T-shirts can be purchased at the UK Bookstore on campus, online at UKTeamShop.com and at UK Team Shop locations at home athletic events.
