TaxiCats Service to End March 31

LEXINGTON, Ky. (March 10, 2011) – The TaxiCats program, which offers special, flat rate discounted taxi service for University of Kentucky students, will end effective Thursday, March 31.

Mr. Taxi will continue the 15% discount for UK students with valid student IDs. In addition to the student discount, Mr. Taxi will still offer UK employees with valid ID a 15% discount on all fares.

After March 31, UK students and employees will still have a number of late night transportation options, including on- and off-campus bus services, trolley service and a safety escort service.

Parking & Transportation Services offers the Yellow Night Route, which runs Monday through Thursday, between 6 p.m. and midnight, and the Green Night Route, which operates Friday and Saturday between 7 p.m. and 3 a.m. Additionally, PTS operates an On-Demand Night Bus service Sunday from 7 p.m. to midnight, and Monday through Thursday, from midnight to 5 a.m. Students and employees may telephone the driver directly at (859) 221-RIDE (7433) to make pick-up requests. The bus driver will make every effort to accommodate reasonable requests. Calls must be received at least 30 minutes prior to the end of on-demand service. For off-campus transportation, students and employees may utilize LexTran buses and the COLT Trolley system. Routes and schedules for these services can be found at www.lextranonthemove.org and http://colttrolley.com. LexTran's fare is $1 per ride, while Colt Trolley service is free of charge.
