University Health Service: A guide for UK students

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Feb. 16, 2026) — Between classes, jobs, internships and campus life, staying healthy can sometimes fall to the bottom of a student’s to-do list. That’s where University Health Service (UHS) comes in. Located on campus at 830 S. Limestone, UHS is designed specifically to support University of Kentucky students and make health care accessible, convenient and affordable.
UHS operates as an on-campus medical clinic for students, with many services covered through the mandatory student health fee assessed to full-time undergraduate and graduate students during the fall and spring semesters. Although the health fee does not replace traditional health insurance, it allows students to access a wide range of care without worrying about the cost of every visit.
Full-time UK students have access to unlimited office visits at UHS. The fee covers services including:
-
Primary care
-
Allergy injections
-
Behavioral health
-
Gynecological care
-
Sexual health services
-
STI testing and treatment
-
Routine sports, travel and employment physical exams
By taking advantage of the services available through UHS, students can prioritize their health while focusing on what matters most during their time at UK. Here are important UHS reminders for students:
-
Students must create a UK HealthCare MyChart account before scheduling appointments online. Visit mychart.uky.edu and click “Sign Up” to get started.
-
Appointments are required and can be scheduled through UK Healthcare MyChart or by calling 859-323-2778 for primary and GYN care. Behavioral health appointments are scheduled by calling 859-323-5511.
-
Telehealth appointments are available for certain concerns, allowing students to meet with a provider virtually.
-
Students with urgent concerns may ask to speak with a nurse for same-day advice.
-
UHS is open 8 a.m.-noon and 1-5 p.m. Monday through Friday during fall and spring semesters, with slightly reduced hours during summer sessions and breaks.
-
All visits to UHS are confidential under federal privacy laws, and parents/guardians are not notified when a student seeks care.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
