Twilight Clinic expands after-hours pediatric care

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 29, 2024) – The Twilight Children’s Clinic of Kentucky Children’s Hospital is expanding its after-hours care for children with acute symptoms. The clinic is now available to all families, not just current UK pediatric clinic patients.

Staffed by pediatric providers, children experiencing severe and sudden symptoms can be seen with a same-day appointment. Acute symptoms include:

  • Allergies and asthma
  • Cold and flu symptoms
  • Cuts or burns
  • Diarrhea
  • Earaches and ear infections
  • Minor broken bones
  • Pain
  • Sore throat and strep throat
  • Sports injuries
  • Sprains and strains
  • Vomiting

Appointments are required; the clinic cannot accommodate walk-ins. Clinic hours are weekdays 5-9 p.m. and weekends and holidays 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Clinic schedulers begin taking calls for appointments starting at 3 p.m. on weekdays and 9:30 a.m. on weekends and holidays. For conditions such as severe allergic reactions, suspected head injuries, fever in newborns, trouble breathing, ingested poison or suicidal thoughts or ideation, call 911 or visit the Makenna David Pediatric Emergency Center, the only dedicated children’s emergency center serving Central and Eastern Kentucky and verified as a Pediatric Level I Trauma Center by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma. The pediatric emergency department is always open.
