UK to Announce Major Multi-million NIH Grant to Launch New Center to Fight Cancer

LEXINGTON, Ky. (April 17, 2017) — Kentucky has disproportionately high incidences of both cancer and metabolic disorders and leads the nation in cancer deaths as well as is in the top 10 for highest obesity rates in the country. While scientists have long known of a direct link between obesity and cancer, the need for further research into this field is a necessity for Kentuckians. At 11 a.m. Monday, UK will announced a sizeable new grant from the National Institutes of Health that will fund a new center to focus on this link.
