HDI’s University Lecture Series offers expertise to UK campus community
LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 3, 2025) — The University of Kentucky’s Human Development Institute (HDI) invites the campus community to participate in its University Lecture Series.
“The series is a unique opportunity for our experts at HDI to work with our professors and students across campus to learn more about topics related to disability,” said Rachel Womack, Ph.D., Leadership Education in Neurodevelopmental Disabilities (LEND) and training director at HDI. “Our goal is to equip the campus community with practical knowledge about resources, legal rights and best practices.”
Lectures are offered in person or virtually through Zoom. Topics range from foundational lectures on disability, to employment and assistive technology.
“Our presenters are people with disabilities, family members of people with disabilities and other interdisciplinary experts,” Womack said. “They offer valuable insights for anyone who is interested in learning more about aspects related to disability.”

HDI also offers students further learning and engagement opportunities, such as undergraduate and graduate certificate programs, internships and the Kentucky LEND program.

As the state’s flagship, land-grant institution, the University of Kentucky exists to advance the Commonwealth. We do that by preparing the next generation of leaders — placing students at the heart of everything we do — and transforming the lives of Kentuckians through education, research and creative work, service and health care. We pride ourselves on being a catalyst for breakthroughs and a force for healing, a place where ingenuity unfolds. It's all made possible by our people — visionaries, disruptors and pioneers — who make up 200 academic programs, a $476.5 million research and development enterprise and a world-class medical center, all on one campus.
