Portion of University Drive to be Closed Aug. 4-5

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 3, 2012) ― Due to complications from the thunderstorms in Lexington last weekend, the utility work on University Drive previously scheduled for July 28-29 has been rescheduled for Saturday, Aug. 4 and Sunday, Aug. 5. The construction is to facilitate electrical service to the New Central residence hall area.

University of Kentucky Parking and Transportation says near the intersection with Huguelet Drive, the existing northbound lane will be divided into two lanes to accommodate traffic flow. Traffic may still travel south on University Drive from Hilltop Avenue by following detour signs.

In order for one side of University Drive to contain two lanes of traffic, no parking will be permitted along the right side of the road during the work. Bike lanes will also be closed during this time period.

As always, construction is weather-dependent and the timetable may change.
