UK Alert System to be Tested Oct. 4

LEXINGTON, Ky. (Oct. 2, 2012) ― University of Kentucky Division of Crisis Management and Preparedness (CMP) will conduct a test of the UK Alert system at noon Thursday, Oct. 4, 2012.  A test message will be sent to all registered devices, including email, text, voice calls, Twitter, and Facebook.

This is a good opportunity for all students, faculty and staff who are registered in the UK Alert system to update their contact information via the myUK portal or report any issues that may occur to cmp@uky.edu.

UK Alert is an emergency notification system designed for use only when an incident disrupts normal campus operations or threatens the immediate health and safety of the campus community.  All UK students, staff and faculty are registered in UK Alert with their official university email address.  CMP encourages all of the UK community to provide at least one other form of notification, such as a cell phone number to receive text messages.

Parents, media, visitors, and other interested parties may register for UK Alert on a voluntary self-subscription basis by clicking here.
