Campus Bike Fix-It Stations and Online Bike Tips Available
LEXINGTON, Ky. (June 15, 2012) In the spring and summer of 2012, with funding from the Bicycle Advisory Committee and the Student Sustainability Council, UK installed four free-standing bicycle repair stations. The stations offer basic bike tools and an air pump, and are available around-the-clock. Each station also includes a sign with links to additional resources and a step-by-step guide to repairing flat tires.
The fix-it stations are located outside Blazer Hall, the College of Nursing, Commons and on Patterson Drive. For more information on the fix-it stations, visit www.sustainability.uky.edu/node/289.
New campus bicycle resources are available online. Parking and Transportation Services, in collaboration with the Bicycle Advisory Committee, recently published University of Kentucky Bicycling Basics (PDF). This booklet highlights best bicycling practices and useful bike tips and resource for campus and beyond.
The campus bicycle facility map (PDF) has been updated to show the location of the fix-it stations, new bike lanes and routes, and to better show bike parking locations.
Finally, PTS has developed a more formalized process to track and evaluate requests for additional, relocated and improved bicycle parking for specific areas of campus. Members of the campus community should utilize the newly created Bicycle Rack Request Form (PDF) when submitting bicycle parking requests.
